While not exactly a walk in the park despite the setting, the world of this concept is definitely an attractive one if you just let the sound wash around you. Dietmar Post and Lucia Palacios have put together another fine project, taking the blueprint of direct cinema and skewing it slightly to create a study of what would otherwise take place completely removed from the pulsebeat.

Faust: Live at Klangbad Festival was released in 2010 by Play Loud Productions Berlin, paired up with Klangbad: Avant-garde in the Meadows, a documentary of the Klangbad festival itself. The Faust performance film, featuring the band led by Jochen Irmler and Arnulf Meifert, ranges from structured rock to spaced abstractions, industrial soundscapes to acid drenched fuzz-jazz. Stephen Wray Lobdell's multi-textured guitar talents are literally mind blowing. Both films together make for perhaps the ultimate documentation of the Faust musical experience and the legacy they have engendered within the experimental genre. This 2for1 package may be one of the best "experimental music" productions of the decade.

Viele Filme zu Franco - darunter auch preisgekrönte - zielen meiner Meinung nach zu sehr auf das Emotionale ab und darauf, ihren Film zu "verkaufen". Ganz anders in Lucía Palacios und Dietmar Posts Dokumentarfilm. Statt über die Personen zu sprechen, die im Film erscheinen, entsteht ein klarer Dialog mit ihnen. Damit wird es auch dem Zuschauer möglich, sich mit den verschiedenen Protagonisten und deren Haltung intensiv auseinanderzusetzen und das von einer sehr individuellen und persönlichen Warte aus.
