Ana Messuti, profesora de filosofía de derecho y abogada de las víctimas del franquismo,  tras ver el documental comenta lo siguiente:

FRANCO ON TRIAL nos ha parecido buenísimo: completo, con mucha información e imágenes que no conocíamos, que se presentan de forma coherente, con una calidad asombrosa. Por lo que a mí respecta es el mejor documental sobre este tema que he visto nunca.

El gran mérito del documental en relación con la querella argentina es el haberla situado en el contexto internacional más amplio, señalando la alianza con las potencias del Eje, principalmente Alemania e Italia. Esto tiene mucha trascendencia desde el punto de vista jurídico, dado que destaca como contexto de los crímenes de lesa humanidad un contexto que va más allá de las fronteras españolas, y los sitúa en territorios de otros países. De esa forma, las víctimas de la deportación y el exilio (eternas olvidadas) están legitimadas para actuar como querellantes. Todas son víctimas de un mismo régimen, que cuenta con la ayuda y complicidad de otros regímenes. Cosa que las hace más vulnerables aún. Es esencial destacar este mérito del documental porque casi no lo hacen otros documentales sobre el tema. La tragedia española se inscribe en la tragedia alemana, francesa, y casi toda Europa. La guerra civil española deja de limitarse a ser civil y española, la participación internacional se hace visible en ambos bandos. Cuanto más se internacionaliza la contienda, más se internacionalizan los crímenes contra la población civil.

FRANCO VOR GERICHT hat uns sehr gut gefallen: komplett, mit vielen Informationen und Bildern, die wir nicht kannten und die in einer kohärenten Form und in großer Qualität präsentiert werden. Meiner Meinung nach ist dies der mit Abstand beste Film zum Thema.

Das große Verdienst von FRANCO ON TRIAL bezüglich der argentinischen Anklage ist es, dass der Dokumentarfilm die Klage in einen breiten internationalen Kontext stellt und hier besonders die Allianz der Achsenmächte Deutschland und Italien mit Spanien aufzeigt. Von einem juristischen Standpunkt aus gesehen, ist dies von größter Transzendenz, weil so die Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit nicht auf das spanische Territorium beschränkt bleiben, sondern diese Verbrechen werden auch auf andere Territorien übertragen. So werden die am häufigsten vergessenen Opfer, nämlich diejenigen, die deportiert wurden und/oder ins Exil mussten, dazu juristisch berechtigt, als Kläger anerkannt zu werden. Sie alle sind Opfer eines Regimes, welches auf die Hilfe und die Komplizenschaft anderer Regime beruhte. Eine Tatsache, die diese Opfer noch verwundbarer machte. Es ist essenziell dieses Verdienst von FRANCO ON TRIAL hervorzuheben, weil andere Filme zum Thema dies fast nie tun.

Die spanische Tragödie schreibt sich so ein in die deutsche, französische, ja in die europäische Tragödie. Der spanische Bürgerkrieg ist somit nicht mehr nur ein spanischer Bürgerkrieg. Die internationale Beteiligung wird auf beiden Seiten sichtbar. Je mehr sich der Konflikt internationalisiert, desto mehr internationalisieren sich die Verbrechen gegen die Zivilbevölkerung.

We liked the film very much: it is complete, with lots of information and images we didn't know about before. It presents itself in a coherent form and has an extraordinary quality. This is the best film about this subject matter that I have ever seen.

The film Franco On Trial’s greatest accomplishment is that it positions the complaint in a broader international context, pointing out Francoist Spain´s alliance with the Axis powers in Germany and in Italy. This is crucial from a legal point of view as it places crimes against humanity in an international context by crossing Spanish frontiers. In this way, the victims -specially the eternally forgotten victims of deportation and exile- are entitled to act as plaintiffs. They are all victims of the same regime, which had the help and complicity of other regimes. This makes them even more vulnerable. It is essential to highlight how Franco On Trial accomplishes this correlation since other films on the subject barely do so.

The Spanish tragedy is part of the German, French, well, the European tragedy. The Spanish Civil War is not limited to being civil nor Spanish. The international participation can be seen on both sides within the conflict. The more the conflict is internationalized, the more the crimes against the civil population are internationalized.
